Larval polytene chromosomes of five species of blackflies (Diptera: Simuliidae) from Doi Inthanon National Park, northern Thailand

Larval polytene chromosomes of five species of blackflies (Diptera: Simuliidae) from Doi Inthanon National Park, northern Thailand

Cytologia (Tokyo). June; 642: 197-207

The standard photographic maps of 5 Simuliidae species from northern Thailand: i.e. Simulium caudisclerum S. fenestratum, S. nakhonense S. rufibasis and S. (Montisimulium) sp. G were constructed from larval salivary gland polytene chromosomes and are described. All the 5 species have 3 pairs of chromosomes (2n=6) which are arranged from the longest to the shortest. Chromosome I of all species is metacentric while most of chromosome II and III are submetacentric.
