A large open-dynamic chamber (18 msuperscript 3) was used to measure emissions of ammonia, nitrous oxide, methane and carbon dioxide from solid manure stored under anaerobic conditions or composted on concrete surfaces. Composted manure emitted more ammonia than during anaerobic storage of manure; nearly 50% of ammonia emitted from stored manure was released at spreading. Storage of manure released 10x more methane and 50% more nitrous oxide than from composted manure.
