Mesostigmatid mites (Parasitiformes, Mesostigmata) on the forest dung beetle Geotrupes stercorosus

Mesostigmatid mites (Parasitiformes, Mesostigmata) on the forest dung beetle Geotrupes stercorosus

Zoologicheskii Zhurnal 74(12): 16-23

The community structure of phoretic mites on G. stercorosus was studied in 4 localities in eastern Europe. 18 species were recorded, including 12 mesostigmatids, of which the following were most common in collections: Alliphis halleri, Macrocheles glaber group, Uropoda orbicularis, Parasitus coleoptratorum and Neopodocinum meridionalis. Caloglyphus geotruporum was the most common non-mesostigmatid mite. 8 species were noted on these beetles for the first time.
