Metal and oil characteristics of Terminalia catappa

The proximate and mineral element composition and physicochemical characteristics of T. catappa seeds and seed oil from Nigeria were determined. The seeds and defatted seeds are rich in protein (22.91 +or- 1.0 and 43.18 +or- 1.0%, respectively). The lipid extract was liquid at room temperature with a high saponification value of 244.97 +or- 2.4. T. catappa is rich in K (9350.0 mg/100 g DW) followed by Mg (769.8 mg/100 g DW) and Ca (852.20 mg/100 g DW).
