Method of seedling production and seed production of a very early maturing rice variety for direct seeding cultivation
In trials in 1995-97 rice for production of seed for direct sowing was raised using seedlings grown in pots or on mats and transplanted when 20- to 40-days-old. In 1995 yields were lowest at 3.51 t/ha with seedlings grown in pots and transplanted when 40-days-old and were highest at 4.32 t with seedlings grown in pots and transplanted when 20-days-old. Yields were higher with seedlings grown with 5 seeds/pot than with 3 seeds/pot.
