Micropropagation of Cinnamomum verum (Bercht & Presl.)

Micropropagation of Cinnamomum verum (Bercht & Presl.)

Biotechnology of spices, medicinal and aromatic plants Proceedings of the national seminar on biotechnology of spices and aromatic plants, Calicut, India, 24-25 April, 1996: 35-38

Protocols were standardized for micropropagation of C. verum from mature explants, and plant regeneration from immature explants and immature seeds by somatic embryogenesis. Multiple shoots (up to 6) were induced from the shoot tips and nodal segments of mature trees on Woody Plants Medium (WPM) supplemented with 3 mg IBA and 1 mg kinetin/litre. Rooting was achieved on WPM supplemented with activated charcoal at 2 mg/litre, alone or with 0.5 mg IBA and 0.5 mg NAA/litre.
