Micropropagation of carnation cultivars (Dianthus caryophyllus L. and Dianthus plumarius L.) through meristem culture

Seeds of D. plumarius and 3 cultivars of D. caryophyllus were immersed in NaOCl at concentrations of 2%-5% for 15 minutes before transfer to Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 25 mg sucrose/litre. Treatment with 3% NaOCl resulted in the lowest degree of contamination and highest germination percentage after 7, 14 and 21 days.
