The depth at which weed seeds are buried has a profound influence on their ability to germinate and emerge successfully. A model was developed that predicts seedling emergence from 2 contrasting distributions of weed seeds in the soil profile: either narrow-bands or broad-layers of evenly mixed weed seeds.
