97 vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE, mostly Enterococcus faecium) isolated from humans and animals in the Netherlands, the USA and the UK were studied. Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of the VanA transposon of the VRE revealed 7 different Tn1546 types.
