Morphological methods for the detection of banana off-types during the hardening phase

Multivariate analysis was used to optimize the procedures for morphological detection of off-types of banana (Musa acuminata) Grande Naine during hardening. The ratios length/width of the lamina and height/perimeter of the plant used in conjunction permitted the detection of all dwarf and giant off-types while causing the misidentification of only 3% of normal plants.
