Native biocontrol agents to arrest the progress of Leucaena psyllid (Heteropsylla cubana Crawford) infestation in Peninsular India

An overview is given of the spread of Heteropsylla cubana in peninsular India, particularly around Coimbatore, since its invasion in early 1988. General observations indicate that the pest population steadily increased during 1988-90, levelled during 1991-92 and seems to be on the decline in 1993. Biological agents, particularly native insect and spider predators, appear to be responsible for the stabilization and the recent decline of the psyllid population.
