Nutritional requirement of beef cattle bulls reared on feedlot. 1. Body content and net requirements of protein and energy for liveweight gain

Body content and net requirements for liveweight gain of protein and energy were estimated in 12 Nelore, 12 F1 Nelore x Angus and 12 F1 Nelore x Holstein intact male cattle initially 24 months old and weighing about 325, 417 and 414 kg, respectively. At the beginning of the trial 4 bulls from each genetic group were slaughtered. The others were fed on diets with 50% concentrates and slaughtered at target weights of 450 or 500 kg for Nelore and 500 or 550 kg for crossbred cattle.
