Abstract
The large, open, dry and sandy places of Mark Brandenburg (East Germany) are the centre of the German distribution of Hipparchia statilinus. Since 1980, a search of all records indicates that this endangered species has been lost from about 45% of its recorded localities. Therefore, measures to protect its habitat are urgently required.
