A case is reported in a 12-year-old boy from Brazil, who was undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, who developed abdominal pain and cloudy dialysate fluid in 1993. Microbiological examination of the sediment of the centrifuged dialysate revealed hyaline, septate hyphae and cultures grew S. apiospermum.
