Physiological variability and interrelationship in chickpea



Agricultural Science Digest Karnal 17(2): 97-100



Thirty genotypes of chickpea (Cicer arietinum) were studied for variability and characters association. The highest level of variability was observed for grains per plant, pods per plant, leaf area, harvest index (HI), total dry matter (TDM) and photosynthetic (Pn) rate. The high grain yield in most of the varieties was attributed due to combined effect of physiological attributes namely, specific leaf weight (SLW), Pn and TDM.
