Plasma prolactin, blood metabolites and yield and composition of milk during early lactation in goats following administration of bromocryptine

Six crossbred goats in their second or third lactation were administered bromocriptine at 5 mg/day during days 15-20 of lactation (period 1) and thereafter again after an interval of 13 days, for 5 days (period 2). Blood samples were collected daily for 5 days before bromocriptine treatment, during treatment, and for 5 days after treatment. Goats were hand-milked twice daily during the morning and evening and the quantity of milk produced by each animal was recorded.
