Pollen tube growth in Nonpareil almond in relation to pollen genotype, temperature and competition among mixed pollen

Pollen tube growth in Nonpareil almond in relation to pollen genotype, temperature and competition among mixed pollen

Acta Horticulturae ( 470): 251-261

Pollen tube growth in Nonpareil almond (Prunus dulcis) trees was studied under 3 different temperature regimes: (1) day temperature 22 degrees C, night temperature 12 degrees C; (2) day temperature 15 degrees C, night temperature 12 degrees C; and (3) field conditions. Pollen tube growth was monitored by light microscopy after hand cross pollination with two cross-compatible cultivars.
