Precision farming - sugarbeets

A field study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy and precision of 3 methods of site-specific yield monitoring for sugarbeet. Data were collected simultaneously from all 3 systems. Two systems allow the use of the harvester storage hopper while collecting site-specific yield. Yield maps were produced and compared. The effects of tare dirt and mud were evaluated. Results show that reasonable results can be obtained with a load cell system mounted at the outlet of a scrub chain.
