A study was conducted near Quebec city, Canada, to assess the efficiency of variable rate application (VRA) of P and K in potatoes. The experimental design on the 2-ha field was a completely randomised block of three treatments: conventional (CNV), VRA, and control (CT). Soil characteristics were highly variable, and kriged maps of P and K were used to determine fertilizer rates in the VRA treatment. Four soil series were identified.
