Preliminary report on the pool of amino acids of the Proteocephalus macrocephalus (Creplin, 1815) (Cestoda, Proteocephalidea) and Bothriocephalus claviceps (Goeze, 1782) (Cestoda, Pseudophyllidea)

Preliminary report on the pool of amino acids of the Proteocephalus macrocephalus (Creplin, 1815) (Cestoda, Proteocephalidea) and Bothriocephalus claviceps (Goeze, 1782) (Cestoda, Pseudophyllidea)

Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis 45(1): 35-38

The amino acid (AA) composition of whole extracts of Proteocephalus macrocephalus and Bothriocephalus claviceps, both parasites of the European eel (Anguilla anguilla), was determined. For each cestode species, 17 AA were identified. The AA contents of the 2 species were different and this was highly significant in 15 AAs; in one case (glycine), the difference was at the limits of significance and in only one case (cystine) was the difference insignificant.
