Productivity of root crops and feed grain crops under finely dispersed sprinkler irrigation

In field trials on sandy dernopodzolic soil in 1992-96, fodder beet, sugarbeet and mixtures of barley or oats with peas or vetch were given no irrigation or full or half rates of mist irrigation, without fertilizer application or with 2 rates of NPK. The full irrigation rate (0.45-0.9 msuperscript 3/ha) gave complete leaf coverage without runoff. Irrigation was applied when air temperature was >20 degrees C or when leaf temperature equalled or exceeded air temperature.
