Prosopis juliflora - an excellent multi-purpose tree species for the development of degraded lands of India

Advances in Forestry Research in India 17: 95-109

The suitability of P. juliflora for growth on degraded land in India is discussed with reference to the following qualities: wide adaptability; high germination and survival rate; high biomass production; fast growth; good coppicing qualities; salt and drought resistance; soil binding and amelioration.
