Prosopis juliflora - an excellent multi-purpose tree species for the development of degraded lands of India
The suitability of P. juliflora for growth on degraded land in India is discussed with reference to the following qualities: wide adaptability; high germination and survival rate; high biomass production; fast growth; good coppicing qualities; salt and drought resistance; soil binding and amelioration.
