Prospects for the use of volatile chemicals and a new pyrrole in integrated pest management of western flower thrips

A greenhouse study was carried out on the effects of pyrrole AC 303630 on Frankliniella occidentalis, and on the effects of volatile p-anis aldehyde and salicylic aldehyde (used in sticky traps) on thrips and other beneficial insects. Two pyrrole doses were used (1.8 x 10-6 and 2.4 x 10-6) under a standard biweekly spray schedule on Capsicum (cv. Summy). The volatile chemicals were used in a mixture with ethanol.
