Protein enhancement of sugar beet pulp by fermentation and estimation of protein degradability in the rumen of sheep
Sugarbeet pulp (SBP), heated at 110 degrees C for 30 min was fermented with Trichoderma reesei on a semisolid substrate (moisture content 80-85%) for 3 or 5 days. T. longibrachiatum was chosen owing to its high bioconversion rate in microbial protein and high degradation of cellulose and hemicellulose. Protein degradability of the fermented sugarbeet pulp (FSBP) was estimated in the rumen of sheep using the in situ nylon bag technique.
