Protein profiles of larval haemolymph of Bombyx mori in artificially induced trimolting larvae using a 1,5-disubstituted imidazole

Trimolter larvae (undergoing three larval molts) of Bombyx mori were induced artificially by administrating 1-benzyl-5-((E')-2,6)-dimethyl-1,5-heptadienyl)-imidazole (an insect growth regulator called KK-42) shortly after the third molt, and analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis for the banding patterns of haemolymph proteins. The features were similar to those previously reported for allatectomy-induced trimolters, which mimicked the trait of the recessive trimolting mutant rt rather than that of the dominant trimolting mutant M3.
