Rapid infrared method of determining biochemical indices of quality of winter wheat grain

The basis of the use of near IR spectroscopy for determining biochemical characteristics of agricultural and food products, and the computer programs and equations used for calibrating a near IR scanner are outlined. The results of chemical and IR analyses of the protein, fat, cellulose, ash, Ca, P, K and gluten contents of 10 samples of wheat grain are compared. The 2 methods gave the same mean values for all components except gluten, for which chemical analysis gave a higher value.
