Reaction of wheat varieties to leaf rust, stripe rust and powdery mildew under field conditions

Twenty-three wheat varieties (7 short duration, 7 medium duration and 9 long duration) were evaluated for resistance to brown leaf rust (Puccinia recondita f.sp. tritici), yellow stripe rust (P. striiformis) and powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis f.sp. tritici) in field experiments conducted at the Crop Research Centre, Pantnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India, during the 1993-94 and 1994-95 cropping seasons. Disease severity and loss in yield were recorded for each variety.
