Record of Aspergillus terreus Thom. on rice grasshopper Hieroglyphus banian (F.) in India

International Rice Research Notes 22(3): 33-34

In surveys of fungal diseases of insects on rice in Annamalainagar, Tamil Nadu, India, in 1996, 40% of the Hieroglyphus banian population was found to be infected with a fungal pathogen identified as Aspergillus terreus, previously known as a soil fungus in the rice ecosystem. Fungal incidence peaked in the first half of February 1996, coinciding with the peak H. banian population.
