2075 cumulus-oocyte complexes were obtained from slaughtered cows by follicular aspiration, using a vacuum pump at a pressure of 50, 100, 150 or 300 mm Hg (equivalent to a flow rate of 10, 22, 34 or 66 ml/min) or by manual aspiration using a syringe (controls), and were matured in vitro. Using the 5 methods, the oocyte collection rate was 24.96, 39.29, 30.08, 27.86 and 28.52% respectively (the differences between groups 2 and 3 and the other 3 groups being significant).
