SVPR 2 is a high yielding medium staple cotton variety suited to summer irrigated/rice fallow tracts of Tamil Nadu, India. It is a hybrid derivative of the cross between TSDT 22 and JR 36 which matured in 150-160 days with an average kapas yield of 1658 kg/ha which is a 37.3 and 35.4% increase over LRA 5166 and SVPR I, respectively. It is tolerant to drought.
