Abstract
The importance of salt in animal feeds, its role as a nutrient, its buffer function in ruminants, signs and symptoms of salt deficiency in grazing animals, dietary salt and K requirements, electrolyte balance of the feed and Cleveland rock salt (Halite) as a salt source, are discussed. Dietary salt requirements in poultry, pigs and ruminants are also presented.
