Secretion and excretion of immunoglobulin A to cecum and feces differ with type of indigestible saccharides

Secretion and excretion of immunoglobulin A to cecum and feces differ with type of indigestible saccharides

Journal of Nutritional Science and Vitaminology 45(2): 173-181

Male 4-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats were fed diets containing several kinds of indigestible saccharides (IDS; cellulose, corn husk, glucomannan, curdlan and lactulose) at 5% for 3 weeks. The proportion of IgA-presenting lymphocytes in the caecal mucosa of the IDS groups increased significantly or tended to increase compared with that of the cellulose group.
