Shade effects on photosynthesis of cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum J. Pres)

Shade effects on photosynthesis of cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum J. Pres)

Journal of the Rubber Research Institute of Sri Lanka 81: 29-37

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)) plants were grown under 12, 28, 48 or 100% daylight for 5 months, after which their response to photon flux densities of 0-1849 micro mol m-2 s-1 in terms of net photosynthesis was measured. Photosynthetic rate at light saturation, derived from the data fitted to a quadratic model, increased significantly from 5.14 to 7.25 micro mol m-2s-1 as growth irradiance increased from 12 to 100% daylight.
