Indian Journal of Poultry Science 32(2): 159-163

A study was conducted to evaluate the social, personal and economic variables of poultry farmers in the Lakhimpur district of Assam. Twenty villages were randomly chosen and 3 farmers were selected from each. Each farmer was considered a respondent and data were obtained through personal interviews. There was an increase in the number of educated youths interested in poultry farming. Poultry meat consumption was found high among the farmers, who preferred chicken meat to duck or pigeon meat.
