The applicability of 0.01 M CaCl2 solution as a single extraction agent as a basis for fertilizer recommendations is a key topic in soil fertility research in the Netherlands. One of the nutrients studied, is potassium (K). The agronomic significance of CaCl2 as an alternative for the soil testing for K on arable land was compared with the current method based on 0.1 M hydrochloric acid (HCl) and 0.2 M oxalic acid ((COOH)2).
