Some properties of an extracellular protease produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa S3 isolated from raw camel milk

P. aeruginosa S3, isolated from raw camel milk, produced a heat-stable extracellular proteinase. This enzyme was partially purified by a procedure including polyethylene glycol concentration and (NH4)2SO4 precipitation. It was purified 5.5-fold with a yield of about 59% of its original activity. The molecular mass of the enzyme was 41 000 by SDS-PAGE. The optimum temperature for activity was 35-40 degrees C and optimum pH was 7.5.
