Spatial distribution of seedlings and young plants of Iryanthera hostmannii in a tropical rain forest in French Guiana

Spatial distribution of seedlings and young plants of Iryanthera hostmannii in a tropical rain forest in French Guiana

Comptes Rendus de l' Academie des Sciences Serie III, Sciences de la Vie 321(5): 429-435

I. hostmannii is a shade-tolerant, dioecious and cauliflorous understorey tree, which reaches 12-16 m in height. Flowering and fruiting are discontinuous, regular and annual, and it is an endozoochorous species (birds, monkeys). Regeneration of I. hostmannii was studied in a 50x50 m plot in Sinnamary, French Guiana, by analysis of the occurrence and distribution of established seedlings and their densities.
