Stomatal and non-stomatal limitations of photosynthesis under water stress in field-grown grapevines

Stomatal and non-stomatal limitations of photosynthesis under water stress in field-grown grapevines

Australian Journal of Plant Physiology 26(5): 421-433

In a study in 1995-97 in a commercial vineyard in Majorca, grapes Tempranillo and Manto Negro (a local Majorcan cultivar reputed to be more drought resistant than Tempranillo) were grown with or without irrigation. Long-term water stress resulted in a progressive decrease in stomatal conductance, accompanied by a decrease in CO2 assimilation to about 40% of that in irrigated plants.
