Studies on alcohol production from sugarcane juice, sugarcane molasses, sugarbeet juice and sugarbeet molasses, Saccharomyces cerevisiae NSI-113

Studies on alcohol production from sugarcane juice, sugarcane molasses, sugarbeet juice and sugarbeet molasses, Saccharomyces cerevisiae NSI-113

Proceedings of the 60th Annual Convention of the Sugar Technologists' Association of India, Shimla, India, 19-21 September 1998: D77-D89

Sugarcane juice, sugarbeet juice, cane molasses and beet molasses were subjected to alcoholic fermentation by S. cerevisiae NSI- 113. Sugarcane juice was the best substrate for ethanol production, followed by sugarbeet juice, beet molasses and finally cane molasses. Ethanol yield in litres/t fermentable sugar (FS) was highest for sugarcane juice (624.25), but the yield in litres/t raw material was highest for beet molasses (269.5).
