Studies on durable resistance to blast disease in different latitudes for rice
Some 140 rice genotypes derived from 38 000 exotic and local material were evaluated for resistance to blast (Magnaporthe grisea) at 6 nurseries set up in high blast pressure areas of different latitudes and elevation during 1990-94. The results indicated that Tetep, Xiangzi 3150, Tianjin Yeshendao, Gumei 2, Mowanggu and the wild species Oryza minuta possessed durable resistance to blast. O. minuta also showed durable resistance to Nilaparvata lugens.
