Studies on genetic and non-genetic factors influencing reproduction parameters in crossbred cows

Studies on genetic and non-genetic factors influencing reproduction parameters in crossbred cows

Indian Journal of Animal Research 30(1): 65-69

An analysis was carried out on the reproductive performance of 328 halfbred cows (Jersey x Sahiwal, Holstein x Sahiwal and Danish Red x Sahiwal), recorded over a 17-year period. Body weight at 1st calving was significantly affected by genetic group, but age at 1st calving, 1st calving interval and breeding efficiency were not. The Holstein crossbreds were heaviest at 1st calving (370 kg).
