Studies on genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance in early group of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L) Millsp.)

Variability, heritability and genetic advance have been estimated using 23 early genotypes of pigeonpea. The highest level of variability was observed for pods per plant followed by straw yield per plant and plant height. The high heritability estimates were observed for all the characters under study except straw yield per plant. The expected genetic advance was high for pods per plant, plant height, straw yield per plant and days to maturity.
