The analysis of cost-effectiveness for different chemotherapy strategies in the heavy endemic areas with schistosomiasis in Poyang Lake Region, Jiangxi Province

Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control 9(3): 135-138

In order to develop an effective, economic and easy to administer drug therapy control strategy in endemic areas of schistosomiasis in the Poyang Lake Region, Jiangxi Province, China, a field study on the cost-effectiveness of 4 chemotherapy strategies was conducted in 1992-1994: mass chemotherapy; mass chemotherapy combined with health education; selective chemotherapy with parasitological screening; and selective chemotherapy with ELISA screening.
