In plot trials in 1995-97 cotton was grown at 2000, 3500 or 5000 plants/mu, given 17.5 kg N and 5.25-8.7 kg P2O5/mu and given 6, 10 or 14 g of the growth regulator Suojiean/mu. Boll weight was increased by fertilizer application and increased with increasing rate of growth regulator. Plant height and average node length decreased with increasing rate of growth regulator.
