The effect of the application date of Melilotus on the fertility of leached chernozem and spring wheat yield in Krasnoyarsk forest-steppe zone

Field experiments were made in 1994 and 1995 using square open-bottomed vessels 0.1 msuperscript 2 in area filled with leached chernozem soil. The treatments compared were: clean unfertilized, and clean fertilized with a soil covering of Melilotus officinalis applied at a rate of 11.6 t air-dry matter per ha at different dates (15 June, 15 July, 5 and 25 August, 15 September, and 5 October).
