Physiological races of Magnaporthe grisea and the resistance of major cultivated rice cultivars in Guangdong, China, from 1991 to 1995 were studied. The results indicated that the change of physiological races of M. grisea was relatively stable in these 5 years. The races which infected indica rice, ZA, ZB and ZC, were isolated every year. The isolation rate of ZB was over 50% annually. The races infecting japonica rice were ZB and ZC. The dominant races were ZB13, ZB5, ZC13 and ZB1.
