The response of maize to potassium fertilizers on acid soils and the function of some properties which affect its availability

To determine the relationship between potassium availability and maize response, 24 acid soils were analysed for their physical properties, fertility level and clay minerals. The different fractions of potassium were determined; greenhouse experiments were carried out using maize as the test crop. The potassium treatments were 0; 40; 80; 160; 240 and 320 kg/ha K2 O, with three replications. A basic fertilization of N (400 mg/pot), P (600 mg/pot); micronutrients (428 mg/pot) was applied.
