The effect of altitude and latitude on the size of Phlebotominae is briefly discussed. The size of specimens of L. intermedia s.s. from low altitudes (<5 m above sea level) in the eastern region of Sao Paulo State, Brazil, was compared with the size of L. neivai from localities at higher altitude (500-800 m above sea level) in the same state, using 39 measurements for each sex. The size of L. neivai was similar to that of L. intermedia, despite the difference in altitude.
