Uptake of nitrogen from the soil by maize as affected by addition of different crop residues

Uptake of nitrogen from the soil by maize as affected by addition of different crop residues

Pesquisa Agropecuaria Brasileira 33(4): 481-486

In greenhouse pot trials, aboveground residues of Canavalia brasiliensis or Panicum maximum were incorporated at rates of 20, 40 or 60 t/ha into the soil before sowing maize Swan. Soil C and N contents increased linearly with each tonne of crop residue.
