Variability and path coefficient study in indigenous maize (Zea mays L.) germplasm

Variability, interrelationships and contribution of ten yield attributes toward grain yield/plant were studied in 100 indigenous maize collections from Uttar Pradesh. Ear weight/plant, grain yield/plant, ear height and 200-grain weight were the most variable characters, whereas days to silking and dry husk showed the lowest level of variability. Grain yield/plant indicated highly significant positive correlations with all the attributes and were highest with ear weight/plant.
